On the morning of February 16, the first ship of 24188 TEU container series built by our company for Orient Overseas (International) Limited with fully independent intellectual property rights was officially named "OOCL SPAIN", which will be put into operation on the Asia-Europe route in the future, adding strength to COSCO Shipping's dual-brand container fleet to better "carry the world". Relevant leaders and guests from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Industry and Information Technology Department of Jiangsu, Nantong City, heads of relevant departments of COSCO Shipping Group and leaders of COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry attended the naming ceremony.

The 24188 TEU container ship "OOCL SPAIN" is another masterpiece of our company after completing the independent design and construction of 20000 TEU series container ships in 2018, further laying the important position of China's ultra-large container ship construction in the world's first phalanx. The ship is 399.99 meters long, 61.3 meters wide and 33.2 meters deep. It has a deck area close to 4 standard football fields and can reach the height of a 22-storey ordinary residence after full load. It is one of the largest ships in the world, and can be called the "castle on the sea".

It is reported that the research and development of the 24188 TEU container ship integrates the latest technological achievements and intelligent means, and its comprehensive performance has reached the international advanced level. It is the product of the national high-tech ship list and the major scientific and technological achievements transformation project of Jiangsu Province. It is an outstanding representative of the new-generation high-performance ultra-large container ships independently developed and designed by China, and also a major ship type empowering COSCO's main shipping industry and serving "The Belt and Road". The continuous construction of this series of ships will have an important leading and demonstration effect on the construction of the national advanced manufacturing cluster of "high-tech ships and marine engineering equipment".
